DJ Miguel 'El Sonero' Morales

Miguel was born October 14th 1963 in Cataño, Puerto Rico. At the age 2, he and his family came to New York and settled in the heart of Spanish Harlem. (El Barrio) By the time 'El Sonero' was 10 his family relocated to New Jersey. Growing up El Sonero spent a good deal of his time with his cousins in New York, thus discovering his true passion for music. Many nights were spent tearing up the NY clubs dancing to the best of the 70's music and The Hustle. High school in New Jersey is when Miguel began exploring his love of music in the direction of DJing. After graduating from high school he used his experience as a disc jockey to work some well known clubs; City Limits and Area of Columbia.

After spending a few years into the dance and DJ scene, Miguel began to explore Hispanic dancing, especially Salsa and Merengue. He became friends with Nelson & Willy Moreno, members of the hit group “Los Hermanos Moreno.” Though as quickly as his new passions developed, so did the need of his family to move to Virginia. Once relocated to Northern Virginia, Miguel made Club Chelsea’s his new outlet for music and dance.

El Sonero has become a rising star as a DJ in the DC Metropolitan and tri-state areas. Currently, El Sonero is a resident DJ at Zanzibar, Cecelia's, Barking Dog and Huckas Sports Pub. For details on days and times, please go to the event’s link.

What Else You Should know

There are a lot of dancing styles.  You can dance on the one, or dance on the two. I do not dance on the one or the two, I dance from El Corazon!
